The Flexitarian Diet

The Flexitarian Diet

This is a semi-vegetarian diet.

Unlike conventional vegetarian diet, this diet allows the consumption of animal products. Where vegetarians eliminate meat and vegans restrict animal-derived products, flexitarians enjoy animal products in moderation.

There will be an increased intake of plant-based meals without completely eliminating meat. It is about adding new foods with certain amounts of meat per week as opposed to excluding any.

It is considered a popular choice for people looking to eat healthier.

Generally, the diet consists of the following principles:

Eat fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains.
Focus on plant-based proteins.
Incorporate meat and animal products from time to time.
Eat the least processed form of foods
Limit sugar intake

Overall, the goal is to eat more nutritious plant foods and less meat.
